Wrexham Lager
Wrexham Lager is the UK's oldest lager brewery, first established in Wrexham in 1882 and still brewing in the heart of the city today. Visitors can stop by the brewery shop on St George's Crescent for freshly brewed lager, gifts and merchandise, or see behind the scenes on a guided tour.
ABOUT WREXHAM LAGER
Lager was first brewed in Wrexham in 1882, using a recipe that is now more than 140 years old. Wrexham Lager became one of the best known names in Welsh brewing, but the original brewery closed in 2000.
In 2011 the Roberts family brought the brand back to life, buying the name and returning production to Wrexham. The brewery uses traditional methods passed down through generations to make three lagers, and has won awards for their quality, including being voted Best Beer from the United Kingdom at the Frankfurt International Trophy competition.
More recently the brewery secured investment from Rob Mac, Ryan Reynolds and the Allyn family of Skaneateles, New York, through the joint venture Red Dragon Ventures, bringing new attention to one of Wrexham's proudest exports. Today Wrexham Lager is sold in the UK, North America, Australia, Japan, Scandinavia and Hungary.
