Felting With Ewe

Felting With Ewe is a family run organic sheep farm in Rossett, Wrexham, where visitors meet a friendly flock of Zwartbles sheep and learn to needle felt their own woolly sheep to take home. It suits families, couples and solo visitors looking for something different.

ABOUT FELTING WITH EWE

Felting With Ewe was founded by Joanna and her family, and began with a love for their Zwartbles sheep. Zwartbles are a striking Dutch breed with dark brown and black fleece and a white blaze down the face, known for their calm and friendly nature.

The farm is a smallholding run in a sustainable, organic way, home to sheep alongside ponies, bees, hens, cats and dogs. Joanna felts with wool from her own flock, so the wool guests use comes from the very sheep they have just met. The experience has welcomed visitors from across the UK and overseas, and has earned glowing reviews from guests who describe the family's warm welcome as a highlight.

WHAT TO SEE AND DO

Meet the Sheep, Felting and Tea is the farm's signature experience, running every weekend.

  • Meet the flock: feed and brush the sheep and learn about the breed and life on the farm.

  • Learn to felt: be guided step by step through needle felting, the traditional craft of shaping wool with a barbed needle.

  • Take home a keepsake: every guest makes a miniature felted sheep to keep.

  • Tea and relax: finish with tea, biscuits and time to chat.

  • Lambing season: in spring there may be lambs to bottle feed. Check when booking.

No crafting experience is needed. The session is relaxed, light on activity and designed for complete beginners.

WHY VISIT

Felting With Ewe offers something you can't find in a museum or attraction: time on a real working smallholding with animals you can touch, and a handmade souvenir at the end. It is a calm, hands on afternoon that works for grandparents and grandchildren, couples looking for something different, and solo travellers who want to meet local people.
