Wrexham matchday guide

A matchday guide to Wrexham AFC: how tickets work, getting to the Racecourse by train, bus or car, the away end, where to eat and drink before kick off and where to stay.

Supporters inside The Turf pub next to the Racecourse, Wrexham

Wrexham AFC play at STōK Cae Ras, the Racecourse Ground, on Mold Road, right next to Wrexham General station. The club was founded at the Turf Hotel in 1864, and the Racecourse is the oldest international football ground in the world still in use. This guide covers tickets, getting there, where to eat and drink before kick off, and where to stay, starting with our members.

TICKETS

Wrexham play in the Championship in 2026/27. Tickets are sold through the official Wrexham AFC website, and you need to be a paid club member to buy. Home tickets go to a members’ ballot, usually about four weeks before each game, and demand is high: the club says around 3,500 applications came in for roughly 1,200 tickets per game last season. Hospitality packages are often available when standard tickets have gone. Don’t buy from unofficial resale sites, as those tickets may be cancelled.

Our partner Wrexham.com has a plain English guide to how Wrexham tickets work.

GETTING TO THE RACECOURSE

  • By train: Wrexham General is next to the ground. Leave the station, turn right and cross the bridge. It’s a few minutes on foot, but the station is much busier than usual on match days.

  • By bus: from the bus station in the city centre, head along Mold Road and over the railway bridge. The ground is about half a mile along on the right.

  • By car: there is no match day parking at the ground or at Wrexham General. The Wrexham University car park on Mold Road charges on match days, and city centre car parks are a 15 to 20 minute walk away. Check prices before you travel.

  • Address: STōK Cae Ras, Mold Road, Wrexham LL11 2AH.

AWAY FANS

Away supporters sit in the upper tier of the Wrexham Lager Stand, entering through Gates 1 to 4, with an allocation of around 1,300 for 2026/27. A new Kop stand is being built at the far end of the ground and is expected to open in 2027/28, taking the capacity above 18,000. Check your own club’s travel guide for coach times and any changes.

BEFORE THE GAME: EAT AND DRINK

  • Wrexham Lager Club on Union Road is a short walk from the ground, a true Wrexham landmark with two bars, good value and a warm welcome on match days.

  • The Lemon Tree on Rhosddu Road serves a match day menu on home game days and is a 12 minute walk from the Racecourse.

  • Vault33 on High Street is in a restored former bank, part owned by former Wrexham striker Neil Roberts, with live sport on the screens.

  • Hill St Social, Effie’s and the Magic Dragon Brewery Tap are all in the city centre for a pint or a cocktail before or after the game.

  • For coffee and a toastie on the way in, try Bank St Social.

Right by the ground is The Turf, where the club was founded. Wrexham’s owners bought the pub in September 2026 and it stays open as a match day favourite. Our partner Wrexham.com has more on The Turf.
