Shows, gigs and comedy in Wrexham

Where to see a show in Wrexham: The Stiwt, William Aston Hall, Tŷ Pawb, live music in pubs and bars, concerts at St Giles and the FOCUS Wales festival.

Auditorium and stage at The Stiwt Theatre in Rhos

Wrexham has a bigger live scene than its size suggests: a 100 year old miners’ theatre, the city’s largest concert hall, an arts centre with its own stage, pubs and bars with live music most weekends, and the FOCUS Wales new music festival every May. Here’s where to see a show, starting with our members.

THEATRES AND CONCERT HALLS

  • The Stiwt in Rhos: a Grade II listed theatre built by local miners, opened in 1926 and celebrating its 100th birthday in 2026. Run by the Stiwt Arts Trust, it hosts drama, music, comedy, film and pantomime, in English, Welsh and both.

  • Tŷ Pawb on Market Street: Wrexham’s arts and markets centre has a theatre and performance space alongside its galleries.

  • William Aston Hall on Mold Road: Wrexham’s largest theatre and concert venue, seating up to 880 or 1,200 standing, with comedy, music, dance, talks and theatre. It’s home to the Wrexham Symphony Orchestra.

FOCUS WALES

FOCUS Wales is the annual new music showcase for the Welsh music industry, filling venues across the city with more than 250 artists on around 20 stages. The 2027 festival runs from 6 to 8 May. Book your stay early: see where to stay in Wrexham.

LIVE MUSIC IN PUBS AND BARS

  • Magic Dragon Brewery Tap on Charles Street: live music, open mic and quiz nights in a CAMRA award winning taproom.

  • Effie’s on High Street: live music every Friday and Saturday.

  • Vault33 on High Street: live sport, events and music.

CONCERTS IN HISTORIC SETTINGS

St Giles Church, the largest medieval church in Wales, hosts concerts, including candlelit Christmas concerts. See our Christmas guide for this season.
