Wrexham Tour Guides: See the City Through Local Eyes
Wrexham is Wales's newest city, and it's full of stories. Medieval streets, Victorian markets, a proud mining past and one of the oldest football clubs in the world. The best way to hear those stories is with someone who knows them inside out.
Whether you're visiting for a match, planning a group trip or finally getting to know your own city, our tour guides will show you a side of Wrexham you won't find on your own.
Trained guides you can trust
Every guide we promote is fully trained, and many hold Green Badge or White Badge qualifications, the official standard for tourist guides in Wales. Some trained with support from This is Wrecsam and others trained independently.
Either way, we only recommend guides we trust and know are brilliant at what they do. When you book a recommended by This is Wrecsam, you're booking a local expert.
Walking tours of Wrexham city centre
A walking tour is the perfect introduction to Wrexham. You'll explore the medieval and Victorian streets, hidden alleys and landmarks that make the city what it is.
Tour Guide Katie is a Green Badge Guide for both Chester and North Wales. Her Wrexham city tour starts at the Visitor Information Centre on Chester Street, and she also creates private tours across the region.

Pete Evans Tourist Guide is a qualified guide for both North Wales and Chester, a tourism ambassador for Wrexham and Denbighshire, and an author. Born and bred in North Wales, he runs walking tours of Wrexham on most match days, private tours on request and illustrated talks for groups.

Wrexham City Tours is led by local historian Kim Sheridan, a qualified White Badge guide and Wrexham Tourism Ambassador. Kim runs three walking tours, all starting from the Wrexham Visitor Centre on Chester Street:
History and Heritage Walking Tour: around two hours, taking in landmarks such as St Giles' Church, the Soames Brewery chimney, Argyle Arch, the Miners' Rescue Station and the city's public art murals.
Welcome to Wrexham Walking Tour: around two and a half hours, including a visit to Wrexham AFC and the club shop.
Half Day History, Heritage and Football Walking Tour: around four and a half hours through the city's medieval and Victorian streets, alleys and passageways, with St Giles' Church, the renovated Butchers Market and Butter Market, locations from the Welcome to Wrexham documentaries, lunch at the Wrexham Miners Rescue Station, the Racecourse Ground and club shop, and The Turf.
Private and bespoke tours can be arranged on request, and there's a discount for groups of six or more.
Football and heritage tours
Wrexham is where the Football Association of Wales was founded in 1876, and football runs through the city's story. Many of our guides cover the Racecourse Ground, the city's football history and its newer Hollywood chapter alongside its industrial heritage.
Pair a tour with a visit to the Football Museum of Wales and Wrexham Museum, St Giles Church or Tŷ Pawb, all in the city centre.
Food tours
Walking Food Tours runs The Wrexham Food Tour. Over around four hours you'll visit five independent venues, from cosy bakeries to hidden pubs, sampling enough to make a full meal while your host shares stories of the city's heritage, arts and landmarks. Founder Gareth Boyd has led the company's award winning food tours since 2018.
Multilingual and Welsh speaking tours
Chester & North Wales Multilingual Tours is run by Louisa, a qualified White Badge Tourist Guide for Wrexham. She offers private walking tours and driver guided day tours in English, French, Spanish and Italian, with Portuguese available for selected tours.
If you'd like to hear some Welsh along the way, Pete Evans speaks conversational Welsh and Geth at Wrexham Chauffeurs is a fluent Welsh speaker. Just ask when you book.
Chauffeured tours and professional transport
For groups, special occasions or anyone who'd rather sit back and enjoy the view, a chauffeured tour is a comfortable way to see more of Wrexham and the countryside in a day.
Welcome to Wrexham Tour is run by Bryan, who was born and raised in Wrexham and holds a Gold award as a Wrexham Tourism Ambassador. A taxi driver by trade, he knows every corner of the city. His private tours combine walking around the city centre with travel in luxury vehicles, taking in the Racecourse Ground, Wrexham Lager, St Giles Church and places from the Welcome to Wrexham documentary, with Pontcysyllte Aqueduct on his full day tours.
Wrexham Chauffeurs is run by Geth Thomas, a fluent Welsh speaker and member of the Guild of Professional Chauffeurs. From airport and cruise terminal transfers to getting your group between stops in comfort, Geth is incredibly knowledgeable about Wales, so even a simple transfer comes with stories and local tips along the way.
Tours across Wales
Pure Wales is a Wrexham based Welsh tour operator running small group tours, private tours and tailor made trips across Wales, all rooted in the country's landscapes, culture, history and food. Closer to home, its half day Wrexham Taster Tour is a great introduction to the city for small groups and independent travellers.
Guides who work together
Our guides don't compete, they collaborate. If one guide isn't the right fit for your group, your language or the kind of tour you want, they'll pass you on to the guide who is. That means you always end up with the best person for the job.
How to book
Every guide has their own page on our website, with tour details, contact information and how to book. Many offer private tours, so you can shape the day around your interests, your group and your pace.
